Antti Raanta Clears Waivers, Assigned To AHL
12 months agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta cleared waivers on Sunday and has been assigned to the AHL. The team decided to waive the veteran netminder following a string of poor performances from Raanta, who is sporting career-worst marks this season with a 3.61 goals-against average and a .854 save percentage. Raanta's lackluster performances have limited him to a mediocre 6-5-1 record. Since making his NHL debut in 2013-14 with Chicago, Raanta has been very reliable with his work, but things have gone horribly wrong for him in 2023-24. Over his last two appearances, Raanta allowed 10 goals on 54 shots to post a .815 save percentage. Carolina has summoned Yaniv Perets from the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL to work as Pyotr Kochetkov's backup on Sunday versus Washington.
