Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert slowed down after a blazing start to the season. The 25-year-old put up 20 or more fantasy points in six of the first seven games this year, but he has only achieved it twice since. Additionally, he hasn't thrown multiple touchdowns since Week 11 and has surpassed 300 yards in a game only once since Week 3.
Unfortunately, Herbert exited the team's Week 14 game with a finger injury and did not return. He was diagnosed with a fractured right index finger and is likely to miss at least the Week 15 Thursday Night Football game.
When is Herbert coming back to action? What is his fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's dive in.

Justin Herbert Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Herbert (finger) played 46% of the snaps in Week 14 before fracturing his index finger on his throwing hand. According to Adam Schefter, the star quarterback is likely to undergo surgery on Tuesday, and the duration of his absence will hinge on the outcome of the procedure.
Listed as a non-participant in Monday's practice, Herbert isn't expected to play in Week 15 due to the short turnaround. Given the injury to his throwing hand and the Chargers facing the risk of elimination from postseason contention, Herbert's season might be over.
UPDATE: Herbert is officially out for the rest of the 2023 season after undergoing finger surgery. Easton Stick will start for L.A. down the stretch.
Justin Herbert Fantasy Football Outlook
If Herbert misses any time, backup Easton Stick will take over. With the Chargers at 5-8 and likely without Herbert in Week 15, there's a chance they could shut him down for the year once they are eliminated. A win against the Raiders without their franchise quarterback could provide a reason for his return.
Herbert has faced a tough stretch in fantasy recently, marked by a lack of touchdowns. After scoring nine touchdowns from Weeks 8-11, he has only managed one in the last three games, along with two interceptions. The remaining schedule is somewhat challenging, and there's a possibility Herbert may not return. If you're in the playoffs with the Chargers' quarterback, it's time to turn to the backup or find one on the waiver wire.
