Michael Mayer Looking to Breakout In Week 14
12 months agoLas Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer caught two of his four targets for 27 yards in Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The rookie tight end tallied at least four targets for the third week straight before the team's bye week. Despite being a highly regarded tight end prospect coming out of the draft, Mayer does not appear to have a high ceiling in the current Raiders offense. Mayer has one touchdown and has only caught three or more passes in three games this year. The Raiders face the Minnesota Vikings this week. The Vikings are middle of the pack in fantasy points allowed to tight ends this season, but the matchup is not as crucial as Mayer's role in the offense. That said, interim head coach Antonio Pierce has voiced his belief in the rookie tight end, so he could see more looks moving forward. Fantasy managers should not start him this week or rely on him in the fantasy playoffs.
