ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin is having his worst season since his rookie year when it comes to receiving yards, as Godwin's 50.5 receiving yards per game is his worst mark since the 32.8 he averaged in 2017. Last season, he averaged 68.2 per game. Of course, you'd expect some drop-off with Tom Brady no longer the QB in Tampa Bay, but it's definitely concerning to see him struggle more than usual.
Godwin is coming off of his worst receiving game of the season last week against Carolina. He was targeted three times but failed to bring in a single one of those passes. However, it wasn't a total loss for Godwin as he had a 19-yard touchdown run during the contest. The three targets were Godwin's fewest of the year, with this being the only time he hadn't seen at least five targets in a game.
This week, Godwin rates as a decent WR3 option against the Atlanta Falcons. These teams last met in October, with Godwin catching six of his season-high 12 targets for 66 yards. It was his third-best receiving total of the 2023 NFL season.
