Yankees Haven't Had Extension Talks With Juan Soto
1 year agoNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said that the team hasn't had any conversations with recently acquired outfielder Juan Soto about a long-term contract extension. Cashman and the Yankees understand that Soto could only be a short-term acquisition, but even so, the left-handed slugger will make the Bombers much better offensively in 2024. The 25-year-old will become a free agent after next season, and Soto and his agent, Scott Boras are expected to pass on any extension until then. Remember, this is a player/agent combination that turned down a 15-year, $440 million extension from the Washington Nationals before they eventually traded him to the San Diego Padres. If he stays healthy in the Bronx, Soto has the chance to do some pretty special things offensively with the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium.
