ANALYSIS: New England Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott isn’t the superstar he once was with the Dallas Cowboys. However, the former No. 4 overall pick has had a solid season. He is the RB37 for the year, averaging 6.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Elliott has 112 rushing attempts for 429 yards and two touchdowns. The veteran running back also has 24 receptions for 154 receiving yards this season.
Last week, Rhamondre Stevenson suffered a high ankle sprain that will knock him out for a few weeks. Therefore, Elliott got a featured workload against the Los Angeles Chargers, totaling 17 rushing attempts for 52 yards in the loss. Furthermore, he had four receptions on five targets for 40 receiving yards in Week 13, finishing second to DeVante Parker in every category.
More importantly, the veteran running back will have a featured role Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The AFC North team has struggled to slow down running backs this year. They’ve given up 19.9 fantasy points per game to running backs, slightly above the league average. However, they surrendered 105 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and 22.5 fantasy points to James Conner last week.
