Deebo Samuel Sneaks Into Top 12 Versus Philadelphia
12 months agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel's usage in the passing game spiked last week in a 31-13 win at the Seattle Seahawks. The dual-threat dynamo led San Francisco with nine targets and turned them into seven catches for 79 yards while adding 15 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Samuel hadn't exceeded four targets in the six games preceding. He has a good matchup in Week 13 as the team travels to Philadelphia to take on the 10-1 Eagles in a blockbuster matchup on Sunday. Philadelphia is the worst in the NFL at limiting fantasy wide receivers, allowing a whopping 30 standard points per game to the position. Part of the reason is that their rush defense is third-best in the league, causing a pass funnel for opponents, so it could be hard to find traction on any carries Samuel gets. Look for the 49ers to get creative with a gadget play or two involving Samuel as they scheme for an edge against their toughest opponent yet. He'll be a fringe WR1 with momentum and a matchup boost.
