BALLER MOVE: Wait and See, Likely Avoid

ANALYSIS: Maybe it's my pessimism showing after an entire season of writing busts columns for RotoBaller, but Aaron Rodgers claiming that he's going to return this season from a torn Achilles seems like nothing but a charade.
The Jets opened the future of Hall of Famer's 21-day practice window this week, meaning he's eligible to return any time before Week 16. If he does not, his season is officially over. Despite undergoing surgery to repair his Achilles less than 80 days ago, he's out on the practice field, which is a feat in and of itself.
No NFL player has ever returned from a torn Achilles in under five months and Rodgers turns 40 on Saturday. The odds are heavily stacked against him. If the Jets are in playoff contention, he maintains that he'll try and make his grand return.
There are rumblings that even if the Jets are mathematically eliminated (which is very likely), Rodgers could return to defeat the medical hurdles, and help out those in the organization that he thinks highly of: head coach Robert Saleh, general manager Joe Douglas, and receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb. Saleh and Douglas are on the hot seat due to another failure of a season in New York. Rodgers brought Lazard and Cobb with him to the Big Apple and they've both been afterthoughts on offense.
If the stars align and Rodgers is medically cleared, the Jets have a shot at the postseason, and the quarterback himself feels confident enough in his leg to play, are fantasy managers in the postseason really going to rely on him to win a championship? The answer is no. Only if things are trending in a positive direction should he be added in redraft, single quarterback formats.
