Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor started hitting his stride this year after missing the first four games on the PUP list. In Week 12, the star running back had his best fantasy game of the season, finishing with 91 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns for 21.1 PPR points.
Taylor is doubtful for Week 13's game with a thumb injury, and he underwent surgery on Wednesday. It isn't considered to be season-ending, but he is expected to miss more than one game.

Jonathan Taylor Latest Injury Update - December 20
Taylor (thumb) is "feeling good," according to head coach Shane Steichen. The Colts' HC told reporters that "we'll see how this week goes" in terms of the former All-Pro running back returning to practice. Taylor underwent thumb surgery back on November 29 and has now missed three straight games.
It's encouraging to hear that he has a chance to practice this week. Indianapolis currently occupies the final Wild Card spot in the AFC with an 8-6 record and would love to get Taylor back in the mix for their Christmas Eve tilt against the Atlanta Falcons. Fantasy managers will want to monitor his status closely this upcoming week.
Jonathan Taylor Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Taylor (thumb) underwent surgery on Wednesday for his right thumb and is expected to miss a few weeks. Head coach Shane Steichen said he isn't sure how much time Taylor will have to miss, but they haven't considered the injured reserve, and he's expected back sooner rather than later.
With IR being out of the question, it seems likely that Taylor will miss two to three weeks while he recovers. He finally returned to full health in Week 10, posting a season-high 88% snap share. The 24-year-old was looking to take off to close the year but injured his thumb in Week 12 and will miss more time.
Jonathan Taylor Fantasy Football Outlook
Zack Moss looks to fill in as the starter in Taylor's absence, and he performed quite well in the first four weeks of the season. The only concerns arising from an injury of this nature deal with his ball security and his effectiveness in the passing game, both blocking and catching, which could result in more snaps for Moss upon his return.
Taylor still possesses RB1-upside when healthy and should resume a near-full workload once he returns. Moss has played too well to be kept off the field entirely, but the Colts have done a good job finding ways to involve both backs. Look for Taylor to regain full health and provide a significant boost for fantasy contenders in a few weeks.
