Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb appeared well on his way to another dominant season, averaging over six yards per carry on 28 touches in Weeks 1 and 2. The star running back finished as a top-20 PPR running back in each of the four years before 2023, with two finishes in the top-10.
The Georgia alum hasn't played since Week 2 after suffering a knee injury against the Steelers on Monday Night Football. He is expected to miss the rest of the 2023 season entirely.
When is Chubb coming back to action? What is his fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's dive in

Nick Chubb Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Chubb (knee) underwent the first surgery on September 29th to repair ligament damage to his medial capsule, meniscus, and medial collateral ligament. Later, on November 14th, Chubb also had surgery to repair ligament damage to his anterior cruciate ligament.
The 27-year-old suffered a similar brutal injury in college in 2015, and there were rumors of this being a career-ending setback. However, doctors expect him to make a full recovery and be ready at some point in 2024. It remains unclear whether that means he will be ready for the start of the season or not until midseason.
Nick Chubb Fantasy Football Outlook
It's challenging to assume that Chubb will return as the same player, but when healthy, he is arguably the best running back in the league. A dual threat in both the run and pass game, leading the run-heavy Browns' backfield has consistently resulted in great fantasy output over the last five years. Chubb was a weekly RB1 option and aims to reclaim that status next year.
Considering age as a factor and now facing two major knee injuries to the same knee, it's difficult to envision Chubb returning with 100% of the burst and speed he once had. Even if he does, teams are likely to limit his workload to preserve the remaining burst. Thanks to the nature of the Browns' offense, Chubb should still hold significant value in 2024, but the exact timing of his return remains unknown.
