Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson immediately had fantasy football intrigue to begin his career. The Florida product was viewed as an elite runner at the quarterback position coming out of college, and after he ran a 4.43 forty-yard dash at 245 pounds, the hype grew even larger.
Richardson rushed for 131 yards and four touchdowns in his first three NFL games, proving to be a cheat code for fantasy football. Unfortunately, he suffered a major injury in his fourth start of the year, sidelining him for a significant period of time.
When will Richardson return? Will he play again this year? Let's dive in.

Anthony Richardson Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Anthony Richardson (shoulder) had successful surgery on his right shoulder in Los Angeles to fix a Grade 3 AC joint sprain in October. Doctors didn't find anything new or surprising during the surgery and just repaired what was expected.
There is currently no timetable for the first-rounder's return, but we know that he will miss the rest of his rookie season. The 21-year-old has tremendous upside in real life and fantasy football, but he could become injury-prone if he continues to run at a high rate. Richardson's athleticism is off the charts.
Redraft fantasy managers can safely drop him. Dynasty fantasy managers will have to wait until next year to put him back in their lineups.
Anthony Richardson Fantasy Football Outlook
In Richardson's first career start, he posted 21.9 fantasy points -- good for the QB4 on the week. He suffered a concussion in Week 2, yet still finished with 17.7 fantasy points. He returned in Week 4, posting two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, accumulating 29.6 fantasy points.
The sample size was small, but Richardson proved he has an overall QB1 ceiling in fantasy football. Assuming there are positive updates on his health, the 21-year-old will likely be one of the first ten quarterbacks selected in 2024 fantasy drafts.
Dynasty managers not contending for a championship this year should consider acquiring him heading into next season.
