Week 12 Wide Receiver Rankings Analysis
A new feature has been added to our weekly fantasy football rankings article. Below, you will find our fantasy football outlooks for key options in Week 11, which gives readers a matchup preview of that player and advice on whether you should start or avoid for the upcoming week. We provide outlooks for all 32 NFL teams, which can be found on our player profile pages and our fantasy football news desk.
Adam Thielen, WR, Carolina Panthers
Week 12 Overall PPR Rankings: 36
Week 12 Wide Receiver PPR Rankings: 16
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen will look to break a four-game scoreless streak against the Tennessee Titans in Week 12. Tennessee has been a favorable matchup for receivers in 2023, as they allow the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position.
Thielen has cooled off a bit since a hot start to the season, but his Week 12 matchup against the Titans sets him up in a good spot. Fantasy managers should count on Thielen as a high-end WR2 heading into Week 12.
Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos
Week 12 Overall PPR Rankings: 61
Week 12 Wide Receiver PPR Rankings: 30
Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton has been Denver's offensive MVP through 11 weeks in 2023 with 45 receptions (62 targets) for 499 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns. He has really had a nose for the end zone in 2023 and is quarterback Russell Wilson's go-to target in the biggest moments. Sutton has scored in each of the last five games, but that TD streak will be put to the test in Week 12 against a Cleveland Browns defense that is allowing the second-fewest half-PPR points to receivers (20.7) per game, including just six touchdowns all year.
The Browns secondary is vulnerable due to some recent injuries, but still, Sutton has clear bust potential this Sunday if he cannot find the end zone for the sixth straight game. The 28-year-old has been targeted double-digit times just twice this year and has topped 50 yards receiving in only half of the games he has played.
Zay Flowers, WR, Baltimore Ravens
Week 12 Overall PPR Rankings: 48
Week 12 Wide Receiver PPR Rankings: 25
Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers (hip) returned to a full practice on Friday but has been listed as questionable to play on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Chargers. Flowers was limited on Wednesday and sat out on Thursday, but he insists he's fine to play in Week 12 and that Thursday's missed practice was essentially just a rest day.
Odell Beckham Jr. (shoulder) is expected to be a game-time decision for this primetime game, so if OBJ is out or limited at all, Flowers could have a busy day against a very generous Chargers defense. Remember, tight end Mark Andrews (ankle) is likely done for the rest of the year, too, so Flowers is already set for an uptick in targets because of that injury. Flowers should be locked into fantasy lineups this week.
Rashee Rice, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Week 12 Overall PPR Rankings: 72
Week 12 Wide Receiver PPR Rankings: 35
It was another week of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice being unable to break out during Monday's 21-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but he did pile up four receptions on five targets for 42 yards. Rice showed off his lauded yards-after-catch prowess on a 14-yard gain during the first quarter to get K.C. into a goal-to-go, dancing his way around Darius Slay in the process. But Rice is yet to assert himself as an alpha wideout for the Chiefs, losing a sizable chunk of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' attention in favor of the unheralded Justin Watson (11 targets) in Week 11.
The 23-year-old has experienced several breakout scenarios in the form of favorable matchups during his rookie year, but they simply haven't come to materialization at any turn quite yet. Unable to transcend seven targets in any one game this season, Rice is losing steam as a WR3 option for Week 12 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Ja'Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Week 11 Overall PPR Rankings: 38
Week 11 Wide Receiver PPR Rankings: 17
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has been inconsistent all season. He's had some potent fantasy showings. On the other hand, the wideout has had more than a few disappointing performances. Chase scored a touchdown in last Thursday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. However, he had just two catches for 12 yards. In his defense, it's not easy to lose a quarterback like Joe Burrow (wrist), who was injured during the contest and didn't return.
But with Burrow done for the year, Chase will look to stay productive with Jake Browning at the helm. Fortunately, Browning, who won the backup job during the preseason, is familiar with the offense. At the same time, the added days off in between games should help the transition process. As a result, Chase remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues imaginable. The absence of Tee Higgins (hamstring) could also mean more targets going in his direction.
