ANALYSIS: D'Andre Swift has logged at least 17 touches in every game since taking over as the starter in Week 2. That's a tremendous baseline for any running back, but it's even better for one running behind a top-tier offensive line.
The primary issue for the ex-Detroit Lion is his quarterback. When the Eagles are within the two-yard line, the entire world knows that a tush push is coming and nobody can stop it. Swift does have a two-yard score on the season, but that was more of a conscious effort to make sure he got rewarded for a big game after Jalen Hurts had been shoved into the end zone twice. One-yard plunges will not be a play call for Swift as long as Hurts remains healthy.
Although, this was a nice wrinkle to the formation back in October.
Swift and the rest of the Eagles get to exact their revenge against the Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl rematch on Monday Night Football. Kansas City has been more reliant on their defense than years past in the Patrick Mahomes era. The pass defense is ranked in the top five, while the rushing unit is middle of the pack. With starting linebacker Nick Bolton out of the lineup, the Eagles should continue to rely on their rushing game.
On volume alone, Swift is an RB1 and will continue to be in that group for the rest of the season. With 4.5 yards per carry, the former second-round pick won't bust in lineups. A touchdown is just icing on the cake.
