BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB1
ANALYSIS: Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Howell has been let loose over the last four games, attempting at least 42 pass attempts in each one. That's led to three consecutive 300-yard games for the second-year player out of North Carolina.
Last week in a 29-26 loss to the Seahawks, Howell was 29-for-44 for 312 yards with three touchdowns. He also added 17 rushing yards as well.
This week, he gets his second matchup of the season against the New York Giants. Howell failed to throw a touchdown when the teams last met, but he still had 249 passing yards in the 14-7 loss.
Last week, this Giants defense allowed 404 passing yards and four touchdowns to Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, plus another 68 yards to backup Cooper Rush. Howell has a chance to bounce back from his earlier showing against New York with a big effort here.
Fantasy managers should view Howell as a low-end QB1 play with upside this week. He's thrown the ball well lately and there's not much reason to think his volume drops on Sunday, especially considering just last month he attempted 42 passes against this same New York Giants team.
