Keaton Mitchell Fantasy Football Outlook
Keaton Mitchell was a popular waiver-wire sleeper when he first became eligible to play this season, but the rookie didn't do much in his first couple of games, which led to him being dropped in many leagues. He was dropped too soon though, as he broke out in Week 9.
In that win over the Seahawks, Mitchell had nine carries for 138 yards and a touchdown. He followed that up in Week 10 with another touchdown, finishing with three carries for 34 yards and a score plus one reception for 32 yards.
The touchdowns are encouraging, but the fact that Mitchell got just three carries and two targets in Week 10 isn't a great sign. He's clearly a talented player, but has he carved out a role that makes him a player fantasy managers can trust?
Should I Start Keaton Mitchell in Week 11?
Keaton Mitchell is a risky fantasy play this week. He's shown he can bust off a big play and he's facing a team that allowed Houston Texans running back Devin Singletary to run for 150 yards last week, so there's clearly upside here.
However, Mitchell played just 13 snaps last week. Gus Edwards operated as the team's lead back and scored a touchdown of his own in the game, playing 28 snaps. Justice Hill played 14 snaps.
Mitchell should be viewed as a boom-or-bust play this week. Fantasy managers who are willing to accept the risk of a let-down game can put Mitchell in the starting lineup, but managers with more reliable options at running back might want to stick with their other guys. Head coach John Harbaugh has indicated he wants to get Mitchell more touches, but it might be smart to see that happens before trusting him.
