Yankees Showing Interest In Aaron Nola, Yoshinobu Yamamoto
1 year agoThe New York Yankees are among the most active teams in the starting pitching market this offseason, and sources are saying they are showing early interest in free-agent right-handers Aaron Nola and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Nola is expected to decline his $20.3 million qualifying offer from the Philadelphia Phillies by the deadline early next week, while the Orix Buffaloes of Nippon Professional Baseball announced last week that Yamamoto will officially be posted for MLB teams this winter. Nola is more of a known commodity and reliable workhorse, while the 25-year-old Yamamoto has an impressive 1.72 ERA in seven seasons in Japan. He had a 1.16 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 176 innings to just 28 walks in 171 innings in 2023 and will be highly coveted on the open market.
