Baker Mayfield Injury Update for Fantasy Football
During the fourth quarter of last week's game against the Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield hit his hand on Titans player Kyle Peko, suffering an apparent thumb injury.
Mayfield stayed in the game following the injury and told reporters after the game that the thumb felt good.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the team's training staff looked at Mayfield's thumb on Monday and determined that the quarterback is good to go moving forward. He won't miss any time due to the injury.
Baker Mayfield Fantasy Football Outlook
In Week 11, the Buccaneers have a very tough matchup on tap as they face a stout San Francisco 49ers defense. Is there upside for Mayfield in this one?
On the season, Mayfield has completed 64.6% of his pass attempts for 2,143 yards with 14 touchdown passes and five interceptions. The 1.6% of his passes that have gone for picks ties a career low for Mayfield. Last week, he threw two touchdowns against Tennessee, marking the third game in a row that Mayfield has thrown multiple touchdown passes.
It's been a resurgent year for the former No. 1 overall pick out of Oklahoma. Still, this week's matchup with the 49ers is a tough one, so fantasy managers should temper expectations when it comes to Mayfield. He rates as a mid-to-low-end QB2 play this week because of the matchup and the lack of a high ceiling. Mayfield has just one game with more than two touchdown passes and one game with more than 300 yards this season.
