49ers D/ST Clinging To Top-10 Status
1 year agoThe San Francisco 49ers D/ST unit has fallen off in recent weeks due to a number of factors. After a Week 8 game when they allowed the Cincinnati Bengals to score 31 points, head coach Kyle Shanahan told the press that it stuck out "just how slow and tired we looked" and lamented big holes and missed tackles. San Francisco has disappointed fantasy managers with their inability to get to the quarterback, leading to a bottom-10 ranking in sacks. Making his 49ers debut will be defensive end Chase Young, a former second-overall pick, who should make San Francisco's pass rush scarier opposite Nick Bosa. This week, they face a Jaguars offense in Jacksonville whose formidable group of playmakers has them inside the top-10 in points per game. The 49ers will look to harass Trevor Lawrence into adding to San Francisco's decent-but-not-great turnover total of 13 as they check in as a borderline top-10 defense this week.
