Darnell Mooney Quiet In Win Over Panthers
1 year agoChicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney continued his tough 2023 season, pulling in just two of his four targets for 14 yards in the team's 16-13 win over the Panthers on Thursday. After setting his season-high in yardage a week ago, the 26-year-old posted his seventh game with less than five targets this year and still hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. Quarterback Justin Fields (thumb) remained out, but Mooney has struggled to be consistent regardless of the quarterback. His most efficient day came with Tyson Bagent, but the overall ceiling of the Bears' passing attack is limited with the undrafted rookie under center. The Bears take on the Lions in Week 11, a team that allows the 18th-most PPR points per game to wide receivers this season. With DJ Moore and Cole Kmet dominating the workload in this passing offense, Mooney is safe to leave on benches until he proves to be more involved in the offense.
