What Did Devin Singletary Do Last Week?
With Dameon Pierce out last week, Houston Texans running back Devin Singletary took over the lead role for the team. On a day when Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud broke the rookie record for passing yards in a game, Singletary wasn't able to make a huge impact in the run game.
The former Buffalo Bills running back had 13 carries for 26 yards. He was targeted twice, catching both passes but finishing with zero receiving yards.
Back on Oct. 15, Devin Singletary had 58 yards on 12 carries against the Saints and looked like he could challenge the disappointing Pierce for the lead role, but two disappointing games in a row from Singletary make that less likely.
Devin Singletary Waiver Wire Outlook for Week 10
If Dameon Pierce doesn't play in Week 10 because of his ankle injury, Devin Singletary could have some added fantasy upside. Sure, he struggled in Week 9, but any player who is guaranteed double-digit touches in a game is worth at least some fantasy consideration.
However, if Pierce is back, this backfield will be a mess. Singletary could still see double-digit carries considering Pierce has struggled this season, but there's no guarantee that's the case.
Singletary is worth adding off the waiver wire this week because of the upside he would have if Pierce remains out. He's a risky option, but the potential volume here means he's at least worth considering for fantasy. Add Singletary to your bench in 12-team leagues, but wait until we have an update on Pierce before deciding if you play him.
