Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has been one of the best running backs in football since being selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. After an RB16 finish (half-PPR) as a rookie, Chubb posted seasons as the RB7, RB9, RB11, and RB5. These fantastic fantasy seasons were despite Chubb sharing time with Kareem Hunt for much of his career.
In 2023, Chubb entered the season with Hunt on the roster -- meaning he was set up for potentially, the best season of his career. Unfortunately, his 2023 campaign came to a quick conclusion after a major injury on Monday Night Football. However, he now becomes an interesting dynasty league trade target.
Should you trade for Chubb in dynasty leagues? What is his fantasy football outlook moving forward? Let's dive in.

Nick Chubb Dynasty Injury Update
Chubb (knee) underwent successful surgery in September to repair multiple injuries to his left knee, including a torn MCL and meniscus. Fantasy managers were optimistic things would go smoothly, and he would be ready for the start of the 2024-25 campaign. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case, with Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reporting Chubb will require a second procedure "in the coming months."
As a result, nobody knows when the Pro Bowler will be back on the field, although the Browns indicated it would be at "some point in the 2024 season." Nevertheless, the latest news will undoubtedly impact Chubb's fantasy stock heading into next season, and it will get worse if he suffers a setback in his recovery efforts.
Should I Trade For Nick Chubb in Dynasty?
Whether or not you should trade for Chubb in dynasty depends on a few factors:
- Will your roster contend for a championship next season?
- Is Chubb's' current fantasy manager willing to sell him low?
- Are you willing to risk Chubb returning little to no value?
If the answer to all three of those questions is yes, then you should consider sending an offer for him. If no is the answer to any of the three questions, it's best to avoid him. Chubb will be at least 28 years old the next time he steps on the field, so even if he does return, his value is decreasing every day. He'll be well beyond the age apex and he will have to overcome injury concerns.
There's also a chance he's never a fantasy-relevant running back again. This is the second major knee injury he has suffered dating back to his college career, so his career could come to a crashing end.
All that said, fantasy managers who expect to contend next year could try sending a lowball offer in the off-chance he returns close to form. A late second-round pick is probably the most you should be willing to offer.
