Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer was the 77th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Palmer had a productive college career, totaling 99 receptions for 1,514 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in four years at Tennessee.
Unfortunately, the former Volunteer had a limited rookie season playing behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. The rookie had 33 receptions on 49 targets for 353 receiving yards and four touchdowns. However, his productivity increased last season.
Palmer had 72 receptions on 107 targets for 769 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 2022. The second-year receiver had an expanded role on offense, with Allen and Williams struggling with injuries.

Joshua Palmer Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Unfortunately, Williams suffered a torn ACL in the Week 3 win over the Minnesota Vikings, ending his season. That led to Palmer taking over as the No. 2 wide receiver for Los Angeles. Sadly, the former Tennessee star wide receiver has been struggling with a knee injury.
He played in the Week 8 win over the Chicago Bears despite re-injuring the knee during the game. The third-year receiver had three receptions on four targets for 24 receiving yards in the victory.
However, the Chargers placed Palmer on injured reserve over the weekend because of the knee injury. He will miss at least the next four games, starting tonight against the New York Jets.
Joshua Palmer Fantasy Football Outlook
Palmer has been solid this season, totaling 23 receptions on 39 targets for 377 receiving yards and a touchdown. The former Tennessee star is the WR56, averaging 7.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. With the veteran out for at least the next four weeks, the Chargers will rely on several role players.
The biggest beneficiary from Palmer’s injury is the rookie Quentin Johnston. He has struggled this year, averaging only 2.5 fantasy points per game. However, the former TCU star showed signs of life last week against the Bears, totaling five receptions on five targets for 50 receiving yards and 7.5 fantasy points, all career highs.
He will have an expanded role with Palmer on injured reserve. Derius Davis, Jalen Guyton, and Simi Fehoko will also see more snaps at the wide receiver position. Meanwhile, Gerald Everett and Donald Parham Jr. should earn more targets with the veteran wide receiver out of the lineup.
