1 year agoWilliam Byron's bid to win the 2023 NASCAR Cup Championship came up just a bit short on Sunday afternoon as he finished fourth in the 2023 Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway. Although the result was certainly not what the 25-year-old was hoping for, he did perform well in the desert. Evidence of just how good of a day he had can be seen in the fact that he led 95 laps and spent 99% of the race in the top 15. Nevertheless, despite a strong effort, in the end he just did not have enough to pull ahead of fellow championship contenders Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson when it mattered most. While the questions of what could have been will linger on for the Hendrick Motorsports star, Byron did enough in 2023 to show he is among the elite drivers in the sport and perhaps even the guy to target once 2024 future bets are released by the major sportsbooks.--Adam Erhardt - RotoBaller
