Is DeVante Parker Playing In Week 9?
With Kendrick Bourne tearing his ACL last week, the New England Patriots need someone to step up at quarterback. One option for that is DeVante Parker, but it appears that will have to wait at least one more week. Parker has been ruled out of Sunday's game with a concussion.
The veteran wide receiver had six catches for 57 yards in his first game of the season, but has struggled since. He hasn't had more than 33 yards since that game and currently has a streak of four games in a row with 20 or fewer receiving yards.
Parker played 43% of the team's offensive snaps last week, his lowest mark of the season. With Bourne out, that number should go up once Parker is cleared to return.
Should I Start Demario Douglas for Fantasy Football Week 9
Rookie sixth-round pick Demario Douglas was already worth adding in deep leagues after the Kendrick Bourne injury, but could fantasy managers in shallower leagues find him appealing now?
Possibly. Douglas was targeted seven times last week, catching five passes for 25 yards. With Bourne and Parker both out this week, Douglas could easily see the most targets of his NFL career.
Still, the rookie is a risky WR3/4 play. He has over 50 receiving yards just once in his brief NFL career and has yet to find the end zone. If you have a safer option, you should probably stick by that player, but Douglas is in play for fantasy managers willing to accept the risk here.
