Is Dameon Pierce Playing In Week 9?
Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce has officially been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though it sounds like the ankle injury he's dealing with won't keep him out long-term.
Pierce had 12 carries for 46 yards last week against the Carolina Panthers. The second-year running back has struggled this season, failing to rush for over four yards per carry in any of Houston's seven games.
Pierce has 109 carries for 327 yards. Last season, he averaged 4.3 yards per carry and 72.2 rushing yards per game. This season, he's down to 3.0 yards per carry and 46.7 rushing yards per game. It's been a tough season for Pierce, who looked like he could be a breakout player before this season began.
Should I Start Devin Singletary for Fantasy Football Week 9
The Houston Texans signed former Buffalo Bills running back Devin Singletary in free agency. His usage over the first five games of the season was erratic, with Singletary having double-digit touches just once, with zero games with double-digit carries.
That's changed over the past two games though, with Singletary carrying the ball 22 times over the two contests. Last week, he had 10 carries for 30 yards against the Panthers and caught two passes for 13 yards.
Singletary is an upside RB3 play this week against the Buccaneers. He has a chance to see 15-plus carries with Pierce sidelined. Mike Boone could see some touches, but Singletary should receive most of the rushing work for the Texans in this contest.
