Darren Waller Injury Update
New York Giants tight end Darren Waller (hamstring) will miss the Week 9 game against his former team, the Las Vegas Raiders, this Sunday due to a hamstring injury he suffered in the Week 8 overtime loss to the New York Jets. Not only will Waller miss this weekend's game, but he could miss more time as well. The 31-year-old has mostly been a disappointment, along with the rest of the Giants offense, in his first year with the team in 2023.
He's scored just one touchdown and has 36 receptions on 51 targets for 384 yards in eight games. For however long he's out, Daniel Bellinger should see a boost in playing time as the team's top pass-catching tight end. However, he probably won't be much more than a touchdown-dependent TE2 streaming option in fantasy.
Taysom Hill Injury Update
New Orleans Saints quarterback/tight end Taysom Hill (hip) was a full participant at practice on Friday and has been removed from the injury report. The do-it-all specialist will be available again for the Saints as they take on one of the softest defenses in terms of fantasy points allowed to both opposing tight ends and quarterbacks. They also rank 26th in fantasy points given up to opposing running backs, so every position they throw Hill into, he has the chance to score some points for fantasy managers.
Hill is still a risky start because he's not the No. 1 option at any of those positions, but he could be started in a pinch in a great matchup.
David Njoku Injury Update
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (ankle) is off the injury report after being limited in practice on Thursday. The athletic pass-catchers practiced in full on Friday, so he should have no limitations in Week 9.
The Arizona Cardinals have allowed the second-fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends, so Njoku carries more risk this week, even with the return of Deshaun Watson (shoulder).
Luke Musgrave Injury Update
Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, but the rookie pass-catcher is good to go for Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Even though the Rams have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends, Musgrave is a shaky fantasy option in a struggling offense. That said, he can be utilized as a desperation boom-or-bust play this week.
Kylen Granson Injury Update
Indianapolis Colts tight end Kylen Granson (concussion) was a full participant in practice all week and was removed from the final Week 9 injury report on Friday. Granson has cleared the league's concussion protocol and will return to the field for the Colts after missing the last two contests. The 25-year-old's return is bad news for Drew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox, but neither of the two were realistic fantasy streaming options at the position the last two weeks anyway.
Granson has 16 catches on 26 targets for 170 yards and one touchdown so far this year. He's probably the best bet for fantasy production in the Colts' tight end committee, but fantasy managers should be able to find better TE2 streaming options in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers.
Brevin Jordan Injury Update
Houston Texans tight end Brevin Jordan (foot) will miss the Week 9 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jordan is dealing with plantar fasciitis and also missed Week 8. Dalton Schultz remains the team's top pass-catching TE, and Eric Saubert could back him up in Week 9.
