The Arizona Cardinals traded for Joshua Dobbs just a month before the 2023 NFL season began. He started eight games for the team, completing 62.8% of his passes for 1,569 yards, eight passing touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also added 258 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
However, the 28-year-old is on the move again, as he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings on the day of the trade deadline. This move comes in the aftermath of Kirk Cousins' season-ending Achilles injury.
Is Dobbs starting in Week 9 for the Vikings against the Atlanta Falcons? What is his fantasy football outlook? Let's dive in.

Is Joshua Dobbs Starting In Week 9?
Rookie signal-caller Jaren Hall is expected to start for the Vikings in Week 9. The BYU product came in for Cousins last week, completing two of his three passing attempts for 23 yards. He was sacked once and lost a fumble.
That said, Dobbs is not likely to see any game action.
However, he played relatively well and could quickly become the Vikings' QB1. As soon as Week 10 arrives, fantasy managers should be on Dobbs watch. He has proven to be able to pick up a playbook in no time, and there's a reason the Vikings felt the need to make the move.
Joshua Dobbs Fantasy Football Outlook
If Dobbs does become the starter in Week 10, there's a chance he will have Justin Jefferson (hamstring) to throw the ball to. Jefferson will be eligible to return from Injured Reserve against the New Orleans Saints next week, so the timing is perfect.
With tight end T.J. Hockenson and wide receiver Jordan Addison and K.J. Osborn accounted for, Dobbs will have plenty of pass-catching weapons to facilitate the ball to.
Dobbs also has rushing upside, so he could become a sneaky high-end QB2. Expectations should be tempered since he just arrived in Minnesota this week, but there are reasons to be optimistic.
