Should I Start Jeff Wilson Jr. in Week 9? Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Picks

Jeff Wilson Jr. - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Should I start or sit Jeff Wilson Jr. for fantasy football in Week 9? Read our fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks and fantasy lineup recommendations.

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. began the 2023 season on the Injured Reserve list, but the 27-year-old returned to action a few weeks ago. Wilson had a ton of success last season after being traded from the San Francisco 49ers, so he was a fantasy football sleeper heading into this year.

However, he has handled a limited workload since returning in Week 7, so he has not become a must-start fantasy option.

Should you start Wilson in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs? Let's dive in.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Jeff Wilson Jr. Fantasy Football Outlook

In two games this season, Wilson has rushed five times for 23 yards and hauled in three passes for 18 yards. He played just 14% of the team's snaps in Week 7 and 25% of the team's snaps in Week 8.

As time moves forward, he should start to be more involved in Mike McDaniel's explosive offense. Last season, he played on at least 60% of the running back snaps in five of his eight games with the team. Since De'Von Achane (knee) isn't eligible to return from Injured Reserve in Week 9, this could be the time Wilson is fully ramped up.

If he gets at least double-digit touches, he could be a fantasy-relevant running back when we look back at Week 9 results.

Should I Start Jeff Wilson Jr. in Week 9?

Based on Wilson's 2023 workload, he's a risky starter against the Chiefs in Germany on Sunday morning. The Chiefs have allowed the 8th-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs this season, so that won't help his chances either.

Wilson should continue to be stashed for potential upside later in the 2023 campaign, but it's tough to trust him here.

All that said, fantasy managers in deep leagues can roll the dice and hope this is finally the week that he becomes a key piece of the high-flying Miami offense.
