The Las Vegas Raiders had a huge shakeup this week, as the team fired head coach Josh McDaniels. But that wasn't the team's only major move this week.
Following the firing, the Raiders also made a move at quarterback. Veteran Jimmy Garoppolo has been benched and the team is turning to rookie Aidan O'Connell to start in Week 9.

What Did Aidan O'Connell Do Last Week?
While Aidan O'Connell didn't play in Week 8 against the Lions, he has played in two games this season for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Back in Week 4, O'Connell made the first start of his NFL career. He was 24-for-39 for 238 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception in a 24-17 loss to the Chargers. He also added three carries for three yards and a touchdown.
O'Connell also saw action in Week 7 against the Bears. He came off the bench and was 10-for-13 for 75 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
Aidan O'Connell Waiver Wire Outlook for Week 9
It sounds like post-McDaniels, the Raiders are looking toward the future. That makes sense considering the team is 3-5 and its only wins were against Denver, Green Bay, and New England.
That likely means that O'Connell will have a fairly large leash going forward, even if he struggles. Fantasy managers in two-QB and superflex leagues should add O'Connell because all starting quarterbacks need to be rostered in those formats.
But in one-QB leagues, O'Connell's lack of experience and the fact that he's struggled in his brief NFL action means he should remain on the waiver wire at this point. The rookie has upside, but fantasy managers should wait to see if he fulfills some of that upside before they add him to their roster in re-draft leagues.
