Robert Covington Fantasy Basketball Outlook
Robert Covington was part of a massive trade on Tuesday. Covington joins Marcus Morris, Nicolas Batum, and Kenyon Martin Jr. as new additions to the 76ers roster, while James Harden, P.J. Tucker, and Filip Petrusev join the Clippers.
So far this season, Covington has started all three games he played for the Clippers, averaging 3.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.
Covington is likely going to continue to start now that he's with the 76ers, as he likely takes over P.J. Tucker's role. Tucker started three games for the 76ers, averaging 2.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game.
Is Robert Covington A Good Fantasy Basketball Pickup?
At this point in his NBA career, Robert Covington isn't going to be asked to score a lot. He should increase his 3.0 points per game average, but there's not much of a scoring ceiling for RoCo. He averaged 6.0 points per game last season, a number that would make sense for him to hit in Philadelphia.
There's some deep-league fantasy appeal with Covington for managers who really need three-pointers and steals, but in most formats there's just not really a on of upside for Covington right now. Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, and Tyrese Maxey will continue to be the main scoring options for the team. Since James Harden hasn't appeared in a game yet this season, there's not really a clear way that his production gets replaced, since there hasn't really been any production.
