Should I Pickup Craig Reynolds? Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook

Craig Reynolds - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Should I pickup Craig Reynolds for fantasy football Week 9? Read the Craig Reynolds fantasy football waiver wire outlook, advice for adding him off waivers.

Detroit Lions running back Craig Reynolds went undrafted during the 2019 NFL Draft. Reynolds had a productive college career, totaling 843 rushing attempts for 2,303 yards and 35 touchdowns.

The undrafted free agent running back has bounced around the league during his NFL career. He started with the Washington Redskins in 2019. However, he never saw the field on offense. The following year, Reynolds joined the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing in two games, totaling one rushing attempt for four yards.

However, the former undrafted free agent running back found a home in Detroit starting in 2021. Reynolds has spent the past three years with the Lions, totaling 119 rushing attempts for 511 yards and a touchdown. He also has 21 receptions on 23 targets for 215 yards in 22 career games in Detroit.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

What Did Craig Reynolds Accomplish In Week 8?

While the Lions have an excellent 1-2 punch at running back with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, Reynolds has played a role on offense this season. The veteran running back has 41 rushing attempts for 179 yards and a touchdown, averaging 4.4 yards per rushing attempt.

Last week, the former undrafted free agent running back had a limited role behind the rookie. Yet, he still had 14 rushing attempts for 74 yards, both season-highs. Unfortunately, Reynolds also had a costly fumble at the goal line.

Should I Pickup Craig Reynolds?

Fantasy players shouldn’t add the former undrafted free agent running back off the waiver wire. Reynolds is the No. 3 running back on the depth chart and will have a limited role once Montgomery returns after the team’s Week 9 bye.

More importantly, Gibbs dominated the backfield workload against the Las Vegas Raiders. The former Alabama star had 26 rushing attempts for 152 yards and a touchdown. He also had five receptions for 37 receiving yards in the win. The rookie earned 31 touches, while Reynolds had 14.

While the veteran running back scored 7.1 half-point PPR fantasy points in Week 8, Reynolds likely doesn’t see 14 rushing attempts again this season. Therefore, fantasy players should look elsewhere on the waiver wire for running back help this week and moving forward. Fantasy players should consider adding Leonard Fournette, Emari Demercado, and Royce Freeman over Reynolds.
