Daniel Jones Injury Update for Fantasy Football
After suffering a neck injury when he was sacked against the Dolphins on Oct. 8, Daniels Jones missed three games for the New York Giants. Veteran Tyrod Taylor took over the starting job with Jones out, but was injured himself in Week 8. Taylor suffered a rib injury and had to be taken to the hospital. Undrafted rookie Tommy Devito took over as New York's quarterback.
Jones has been cleared to return from his absence, and it sounds like the plan is for him to take the field on Sunday against the Raiders. The Taylor injury likely means any chance that New York might have leaned on the cautious side with Jones is out the window.
Expect to see Daniel Jones start at quarterback for the New York Giants in Week 9 of the 2023 NFL season.
Daniel Jones Fantasy Football Outlook
Despite signing a contract extension this offseason, Daniel Jones has struggled in 2023. Through five games, he's thrown just two touchdowns and has been picked off six times. He has just one game with over 203 passing yards.
The Raiders allow the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, largely because this Las Vegas defense is a siphon for the run game. Expect the Giants to run the ball early and often against a Raiders team that has struggled to stop running backs.
Jones might be healthy and starting in real life, but he's only a QB2 option in fantasy leagues this week because of his 2023 struggles and the defense he's facing.
