Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins was a hot prospect coming out of Ohio State in the 2020 NFL Draft class. As a rookie, he posted 805 rushing yards on 6.0 yards per carry and scored nine rushing touchdowns -- setting himself up for a bright future in the NFL and fantasy football.
Unfortunately, he tore his ACL leading up to the 2021 season which affected him during the 2022 campaign as well. Still, he was a sleeper heading into 2023. However, the 24-year-old was injured in his first game of the season, and he has been out ever since.
When is Dobbins coming back to action? What is his fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's dive in.

J.K. Dobbins Injury Update for Fantasy Football
J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) underwent surgery to repair his torn Achilles in September. Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers recovered in less than six months from a torn Achilles two years ago, and Dobbins is aiming for a similar timeline with his recovery. Dobbins suffered the crushing injury in Week 1 against the Houston Texans.
In any event, fantasy managers in redraft leagues can safely drop Dobbins. It's almost a guarantee that he's out for the entire 2023 season.
The talented back hasn't had injury luck on his side and will not be on the fantasy radar until next season.
J.K. Dobbins Fantasy Football Outlook
Dobbins will enter free agency next March, but he'll have to prove his health before any other teams take a chance on the running back with the "injury-prone" label. His landing spot will help dictate his fantasy outlook for 2024, but Achilles tears can hamper running backs for years or end their careers entirely.
There's a very low chance he'll see a decent workload even when he does return, especially early in his fifth NFL season.
All that said, modern medicine and science have changed how players can perform after major injuries, so it's too early to write him off altogether.
