What Did Tank Dell Do Last Week?
Between missing a game with a concussion and a bye week, Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell hadn't played an NFL since Oct. 8 coming into Week 8.
The Texans took on the Carolina Panthers in Week 8 and while Tank Dell didn't make a huge impact on the stat sheet, the Texans worked to get the football in his hands. Dell was targeted four times, catching three passes for 16 yards. He also had three carries for 15 yards.
One of those carries showed off Dell's athleticism, as he weaved his way on an end-around for 11 yards. It was good to see Houston get Dell the ball, but the fact that he was used on end-arounds and in the underneath passing game limited his ability to make a big play.
Tank Dell Waiver Wire Outlook for Week 9
Tank Dell played 78% of Houston's Week 8 snaps, his second-highest snap rate of the season. He led all Texans wide receivers in snaps in the loss with 45. Noah Brown and Nico Collins both played 42 snaps, while John Metchie and Xavier Hutchinson saw fewer than 10 snaps each.
Houston clearly likes Dell. The issue for fantasy is that if he continues to only get underneath work, he'll likely have some poor fantasy numbers. Houston needs to get Dell involved down the field more to take advantage of his speed.
The talent is here though and fantasy managers should add Tank Dell off the waiver wire because of his speed. He might be a boom-or-bust play right now, but the booms can be pretty good, like his five-catch, 145-yard day against the Jaguars back n Week 3.
