Washington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel was the 40th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. Samuel had a productive college career, totaling 107 receptions for 1,249 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in three years at Ohio State. He also had 172 rushing attempts for 1,286 yards and 15 touchdowns in college.
The former Buckeyes star had a productive career with the Panthers. He had 185 receptions on 293 targets for 2,087 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. Samuel also had 72 rushing attempts for 478 yards and five touchdowns in 53 career games with the franchise.
After four years in Carolina, the former Ohio State star signed with the Commanders in free agency. Unfortunately, his first season with the team got ruined because of injuries. However, Samuel played better last year, totaling 64 receptions on 92 targets for 656 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He also had 38 rushing attempts for 187 yards and a touchdown in 17 games.

Curtis Samuel Injury Update For Fantasy Football
The veteran wide receiver has played a critical role in Washington’s passing attack this season. However, the seventh-year player is dealing with soreness in his toe and foot from the Week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Head coach Ron Rivera said the team will see how Samuel progresses throughout the week before determining his status for the upcoming matchup against the New England Patriots in Week 9. However, the injury isn’t considered serious.
Curtis Samuel Fantasy Football Outlook
Samuel has played well this season. The former Ohio State star is the WR40, averaging 8.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has 35 receptions on 43 targets for 322 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The veteran wide receiver also has four rushing attempts for 20 yards and a touchdown this year.
The former Ohio State star is second on the team in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. However, his fantasy football impact isn’t significant.
Washington has multiple talented pass catchers on the roster. Terry McLaurin has been the team’s best player on offense this season. Meanwhile, Jahan Dotson is coming off a breakout game. If Samuel misses the Week 9 matchup against the Patriots, it won’t have much impact on Sam Howell’s production.
