New England Patriots wide receiver Kendrick Bourne went undrafted during the 2017 NFL Draft. Bourne had a productive college career, totaling 211 receptions for 3,130 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns in four years at Eastern Washington.
The former undrafted free agent wide receiver signed with the San Francisco 49ers. He spent four years with the 49ers, totaling 137 receptions on 218 targets for 1,769 yards and 11 touchdowns. After four years in San Francisco, Bourne signed with the New England Patriots.
While some had high expectations for the former Eastern Washington star, the veteran wide receiver hasn’t been a difference-maker for New England. He has 127 receptions on 173 targets for 1,640 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 41 career games with the team.

Kendrick Bourne Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Unfortunately, Bourne suffered a torn ACL in the Week 8 loss to the Miami Dolphins, ending his season. The veteran wide receiver had a solid performance before getting hurt, totaling three receptions on four targets for 36 receiving yards and a touchdown, scoring 11.1 half-point PPR fantasy points.
Kendrick Bourne Fantasy Football Outlook
Bourne wasn’t the only Patriots wide receiver to leave the Week 8 game with an injury. DeVante Parker also suffered an injury in the loss. With both veteran wide receivers injured, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Demario Douglas, and Jalen Reagor will see an increase in targets moving forward.
Fantasy players should turn their attention to the sixth-round rookie wide receiver. Douglas has played well lately. He had a 20% target share in Week 7 and a 25% target share last week. Furthermore, the rookie has a 26% target per route run rate this season. The former Liberty star is the No. 1 wide receiver in New England, with the veterans sidelined.
Unfortunately, Bourne is in the final year of his contract and will be a free agent in the offseason. Fantasy players in redraft leagues can drop the veteran wide receiver. Furthermore, fantasy players in shallow dynasty leagues can drop the former Eastern Washington star.
Fantasy players should avoid starting anyone on this offense outside of the running backs and Douglas in deeper leagues. The silver lining for fantasy players is that Rhamondre Stevenson should see more targets with Bourne out for the season.
