What Did Rashid Shaheed Accomplish In Week 8?
Many had high hopes for the former undrafted free agent wide receiver in Week 8. He was coming off a solid performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars, totaling four receptions on eight targets for 28 receiving yards and 5.2 half-point PPR fantasy points. While Shaheed didn’t have an impactful fantasy performance, he set a career-high in targets.
Yet, no one expected the second-year receiver to have the performance he did in Week 8. Shaheed caught all three targets for 153 receiving yards and a touchdown in the win over the Indianapolis Colts, scoring 22.8 fantasy points.
Should I Pickup Rashid Shaheed?
Not only did the former undrafted free agent lead the Saints wide receivers in fantasy points, but he also had the highest offensive PFF grade in Week 8 heading into Monday night.
More importantly, the former Weber State star is now the highest-scoring New Orleans wide receiver for the year. Shaheed is the WR26, averaging 10.6 fantasy points per game. Meanwhile, Chris Olave is the WR30, averaging 10 fantasy points per game, while Thomas is the WR41, averaging 8.6 per contest.
Fantasy players should make the second-year wide receiver a top priority in the waiver wire this week. Shaheed has several appealing matchups left this season, including against the Chicago Bears in Week 9 and the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10. Furthermore, his role on offense should only grow from here.
