Martin Truex Jr. Sees Playoffs Strike Midnight At Martinsville
1 year agoMartin Truex Jr. started off on the pole for the Xfinity 500 Sunday afternoon from Martinsville. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver was third after Stage 1 but began having problems in Stage 2. Truex Jr. never recovered as he dropped into the 20's and though he got back to 12th, that was nowhere near enough to make the playoffs. Ideally, Truex Jr. needed lots of stage points and a podium finish more than likely. With Ryan Blaney winning, William Byron slid into the playoffs, and even teammate Denny Hamlin was eliminated as well. In the end, the clock struck midnight for Truex Jr.
