Tommy DeVito Throws For Negative Yardage
1 year agoNew York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito was thrust into action in the first half with the injury to Tyrod Taylor (ribs) but the Giants' coaching staff clearly didn't trust the undrafted rookie to throw downfield. DeVito routinely handed the ball off to running back Saquon Barkley. When they did let the 25-year-old throw, passes didn't go further than the line of scrimmage. When the final whistle sounded, DeVito totaled negative one yard through the air. He did, however, score the Giants only touchdown with a six-yard scramble in the third quarter. With a lack of confidence in the rookie, it would be a surprise if the Giants didn't bring in a veteran quarterback if Taylor and Daniel Jones (neck) can't suit up in Week 9.
