Jerome Ford Injury Update
Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford (ankle) "wants and intends to play" versus the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8, but he'll need to be evaluated pregame before the team confirms his status. Diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain less than one week ago, it would be quite impressive to see Ford return without missing a game.
His comments are promising, but fantasy managers should be aware that he didn't practice Thursday and was merely limited Friday. His official status will be announced around 2:35 p.m. EST. If active, Ford can be a high-end RB3 in fantasy football.
Zack Moss Injury Update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Indianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss (elbow, heel) will go through pre-game warmups on Sunday. If all goes well, the 25-year-old will play in Week 8. However, if things don't go as planned, Jonathan Taylor will get most of the work against the Saints.
Taylor and Moss have split touches over the last few weeks, although the former appears ready to reclaim his spot as the No. 1 option out of the backfield. For now, Moss remains questionable. But even if he gets the green light, he may be limited physically and cede carries to Taylor, which isn't an ideal scenario for fantasy managers.
Josh Palmer & Gerald Everett Injury Updates
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) and tight end Gerald Everett (hip) will be game-time decisions for Week 8 versus the Chicago Bears, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Both players are listed as questionable ahead of kickoff on primetime television.
Rapoport notes that the Chargers are more optimistic about Palmer than Everett, but pregame warmups should paint a clearer picture of whether or not the pass-catchers will be able to suit up. Fantasy managers can expect confirmation on the Chargers' inactives around 6:50 p.m. EST.
Curtis Samuel Injury Update
Washington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel (foot) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's contest against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The talented veteran receiver has been listed as questionable, and although there is optimism about his status, the team wants to work him out pregame before making an official decision.
If active, Samuel, who has 21 catches, 183 yards, and two touchdowns over his last four games, ranks as a low-end WR3 in fantasy football. If he can't suit up, though, Antonio Gibson and Jahan Dotson could get more involved.
Tyler Lockett Injury Update
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 8 versus the Cleveland Browns despite being listed as questionable, head coach Pete Carroll said. The 31-year-old has been nothing more than a fantasy WR3 this season, totaling 27 catches, 289 yards, and two touchdowns through six games. Against a decent Browns defense this week, Lockett can be benched in leagues where you have higher-upside options at the wide receiver or FLEX spots.
Michael Thomas Injury Update
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas (illness) is currently listed as questionable for the upcoming Week 8 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The veteran wideout popped up on the injury report due to an undisclosed illness on Saturday.
The hope is that it's a minor issue and will be better by game-time on Sunday. Otherwise, fellow wideouts Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed could be looking at a big workload this week. Fantasy managers will have to check back later on Sunday for another update.
Brock Purdy Injury Update
According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (head) cleared concussion protocol and no longer carries an injury designation ahead of Sunday's meeting with the Bengals. The signal-caller was limited in practice on Thursday but fully participated in Friday's session, so he was moving in the right direction.
Of course, this means Sam Darnold won't be of any value to fantasy managers. However, Purdy hasn't exactly been the most reliable option, so he's a risky fantasy play in Week 8 versus Cincinnati, even more so with Deebo Samuel (shoulder) sidelined.
Jimmy Garoppolo Injury Update
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (back) will start against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football in Week 8, according to head coach Josh McDaniels. The veteran QB missed the Raiders' Week 7 loss to the Chicago Bears with a back injury but is ready to go for MNF. The combination of Brian Hoyer and Aidan O'Connell under center was ineffective, to say the least, while Garoppolo was out. His return should raise the floor of all Raiders' skill players.
Kareem Hunt Injury Update
Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt (thigh) has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Hunt was limited in practice on both Thursday and Friday this week. Despite that, Hunt appears to be fine heading into the weekend. Fellow running back Jerome Ford (ankle) is currently considered as questionable for this game. The absence of Ford could make Hunt a possible low-end RB2 option in PPR formats.
David Montgomery Injury Update
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery (ribs) has been ruled out for the Week 8 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. This doesn't come as much of a surprise after Montgomery wasn't able to practice this week. Rookie back Jahmyr Gibbs will serve as the lead back for the second week in a row.
He saw a significant snap count last week, so the expectation is that Gibbs will be the workhorse back once again. Fellow running back Craig Reynolds is expected to be the change-of-pace option for this game. Fantasy managers should consider Gibbs a high-end RB2 for this game.
