Darnell Mooney A Risky Play In Week 8
1 year agoChicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney has struggled to make a significant impact this season, never recording more than four catches or exceeding 53 receiving yards in a single game. In Week 7, with backup Tyson Bagent at quarterback, Mooney managed just four catches on five targets for 32 yards. Although this marked the most targets he's seen in a game since Week 1, he was unable to break free. During that game, the 25-year-old also had his first rushing attempt of the season but gained a mere two yards, indicating that he won't become a consistent part of the run game. With DJ Moore being the primary target in the offense regardless of the quarterback, Mooney has limited opportunities in a lackluster offense. Particularly with Justin Fields sidelined due to a thumb injury, it's advisable to consider benching Mooney, even when facing a Chargers' defense that has allowed the most points per game to receivers this year.
