James Conner Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner has missed two games so far after suffering a knee injury in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He must miss at least two more games, meaning he will be unavailable for the team's Week 8 game against the Ravens and Week 9 game against the Browns.
The earliest we could see Conner back on the football field would be on Nov. 12 when the Cardinals host the Atlanta Falcons. But will the running back be available in that game?
So far, there hasn't been much word on how Conner is recovering from the knee injury. Fantasy managers will be without him for at least two more games, but there hasn't been an indication one way or the other about his Week 10 status. It's unlikely that we'll hear much about that for at least another week.
James Conner Fantasy Football Outlook
When healthy, James Conner is the best running back on the Arizona Cardinals roster, and it isn't particularly close. The game against the Bengals where he was injured was the first time all season that Conner failed to reach 50 rushing yards.
Once he's healthy, he should resume playing heavy snaps. He played at least 62% of Arizona's offensive snaps in each of the team's first four games. Once he's back, Conner will be a solid fantasy RB2 play. His value is depressed a little because he doesn't have much of a pass-catching role.
Emari Demercado remains a streaming option until Conner returns, but he lacks the ceiling that Conner has. Wide receiver Rondale Moore has also taken snaps at running back but hasn't had a large enough role to make him a trustworthy fantasy option.
