Kyler Murray Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray last played in Week 14 last season against the New England Patriots. He completed his first pass attempt of the game but suffered a torn ACL just three plays into the contest.
That game was the most recent time that Murray has played an NFL game, but it appears that he's nearing a return. The Cardinals recently opened up the 21-day practice window for Murray. He must be moved to the active roster before the window closes or he'll be unable to play this season.
Murray was a full participant at practice this week. That suggests that he's in line to play again. It's not yet clear exactly when that will be, but it's likely that the Cardinals err on the side of caution. Fantasy managers should not expect Murray to play in Week 8, but a Week 9 or Week 10 return are more likely.
Kyler Murray Fantasy Football Outlook
Kyler Murray is usually a top fantasy football quarterback when he plays, but that might not be the case in 2023.
A huge part of Murray's value comes from his rushing ability, as he's averaged 38.7 rushing yards per game during his career. But as he returns from the knee injury, it's fair to wonder if Murray will run less.
If that's the case, Murray should be considered a high-end fantasy QB2 when he returns to the field. He should still add some rushing yardage, even if it isn't at the level that fantasy managers are used to. As a passer, he completed 66.4% of his passes last season. In 57 career games, Murray has averaged 242.9 passing yards per contest.
Kyler Murray Injury Update as of November 1
After Joshua Dobbs was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, Murray could be set to return soon. However, head coach Jonathan Gannon said Clayton Tune might start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 9.
