Kyler Murray Injury Update
Arizona Cardinals Kyler Murray (knee) practiced fully on Wednesday. Murray's 21-day practice window was opened last week by the Cardinals and he is trending in the right direction as the team prepares to take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. The Cardinals are already on the record as saying they will take it slow with Murray, who tore his ACL late last season, but his ability to practice fully on Wednesday is encouraging.
Murray has a shot at starting in Week 8 but it is hard to say how the Cardinals plan to handle things between him and Joshua Dobbs. That being said, Murray should be rostered in all formats as he will be back playing sooner rather than later.
Brock Purdy Injury Update
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (concussion) has entered into the NFL's concussion protocol. The fact that Purdy entered the protocol on Wednesday makes him a long shot to suit up on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, which means Sam Darnold would be the presumptive starter for San Francisco.
Purdy has been under some scrutiny over the last two weeks, both 49ers' losses, due to his decision-making and execution in the fourth quarter but he is a much better option to lead the San Francisco offense, due to his experience, than Darnold, who is playing on his third team in the last four years. If Purdy ends up sitting on Sunday, which is highly likely, then all San Francisco fantasy-relevant players outside of Christian McCaffrey should be downgraded.
Justin Fields Injury Update
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields (thumb) is progressing and working with the Bears training staff this week, but he is still doubtful to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8 due to his thumb injury. The talented signal-caller suffered a dislocated thumb in the Week 6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, forcing him to miss the Week 7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent is likely to start for the Bears in this Sunday Night Football matchup.
Despite the Chargers allowing the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season, Bagent is only on the fantasy radar in two-QB and superflex formats.
Deshaun Watson Injury Update
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) has been ruled out for the Week 8 contest against the Seattle Seahawks. The 28-year-old exited the Week 7 win over the Indianapolis Colts after a hard fall to the turf and will now miss his third game of the season. Although Watson reportedly didn't suffer any additional damage to his shoulder, the Browns are likely holding him out as a precaution. P.J. Walker will start again for Cleveland.
Although his stats have been unimpressive (zero touchdowns, three interceptions), the Browns have defeated the San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts with him as the primary signal-caller.
Jalen Hurts Injury Update
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (knee) reportedly has a mild knee injury that is not expected to keep him out of game action. Head coach Nick Sirianni said he is confident that Hurts will be ready to play against the Washington Commanders in Week 8. "We anticipate him to go. That doesn't mean it's easy. We'll see. I think he's feeling better," Sirianni said. "We're hopeful that he'll (have) no limitations on Sunday."
Last year's MVP runner-up was wearing a knee brace in Week 7, but he still threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a score. As long as he's active, he's a must-start. Hopefully, he doesn't suffer any setbacks with his mysterious knee ailment.
Trevor Lawrence Injury Update
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (knee) was officially limited in the team's practice on Wednesday. Lawrence's limited practice reps to start the week is a great sign for his availability in Week 8. The Jaguars quarterback played through the knee issue in Week 7, and he should be on track to suit up this weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 24-year-old is coming off his second-best fantasy finish (QB10) this year, and he should be started in almost all formats this week. Lawrence faces a Steelers defense allowing the eighth most passing yards this season.
Baker Mayfield Injury Update
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (knee) will play Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Wide receiver Chris Godwin (neck) will also give it a go. Both key offensive pieces were listed as questionable but practiced in full on Wednesday.
Mayfield is currently the QB19 on the season, averaging 15.7 points per game. The former first-overall pick is throwing for 227 yards per game and has tallied eight touchdowns on the season. Mayfield is considered a low-end QB2 for Week 8.
