MLB Pitcher Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Max Scherzer over 4.5 strikeouts (+105, DraftKings sportsbook)

Are we witnessing peak Mad Max Scherzer? Absolutely not. Should we bet against one of, if not the top competitors in the entire league? Absolutely not.

It's been tough sledding of late for the future Hall of Famer as Scherzer battled his way back from injury to yield five earned runs across four innings of work in a Game 3 loss to the Astros in this ALCS but let's not write the guy off quite yet.

No, Scherzer hasn't been at his best in the postseason from a macro standpoint as his playoff 3.80 ERA across 137 1/3 innings of postseason work is below his 3.15 ERA across 457 regular-season appearances. However, there aren't a whole lot of arms I would want standing on the mound in a winner-take-all Game 7 matchup.

The Astros do not strike out much. Their 19.8% K% from the regular season ranked third in baseball. However, a 4.5 over/under here seems light. Scherzer still struck out 28% of the hitters he faced this season, right in line with his 29.4% career mark. He owns a 29.5% K% in his postseason career, so despite some worsened results in the playoffs, strikeouts have not been an issue.

We're getting plus-money odds on the maddest bulldog in the game and we'll bet on Scherzer to go out and rack up some early strikeouts in this one tonight.

MLB Hitter Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Trea Turner over 1.5 total bases (+105, DraftKings sportsbook)

The Phillies will aim to punch their ticket to their second consecutive World Series appearance tonight back on their home turf and look no further than Trea Turner to lead the way.

Turner has just two hits and no extra-base hits over his last two games but he has enjoyed immense success in his career against D=backs starter Merrill Kelly. Turner has gone 10-for-22 (.455) with three doubles and a homer, along with five walks, in his career against Kelly across 27 at-bats with just three strikeouts in that time. Of course, we're taking that all day long.

Despite a lack of production over the last two games, Turner is still hitting .294 with a double and a homer in this series, good for a .910 OPS. For good measure, he's hitting .415 with three home runs, five doubles, and a massive 1.224 OPS across 47 trips to the plate in these playoffs.

While he has destroyed Kelly in his career, it hasn't mattered who Turner has faced for some time. In August, he posted a 1.061 OPS. In September, it was a .931 OPS. His 140 wRC+ was 40% above the league average after the All-Star break. He has been a man on a mission for the last couple of months.

We're getting some fantastic value on a white-hot hitter to grab at least a couple of total bases tonight in Philadelphia.

Good luck, RotoBallers!
