San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was the 36th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Samuel had an excellent college career, totaling 148 receptions for 2,076 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in four years at South Carolina. He also had 25 rushing attempts for 154 yards and seven touchdowns in college.
More importantly, the former Gamecock has become a star in the NFL. Samuel started his career slowly but had a breakout year in 2021. He had 136 touches for 1,770 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns. Furthermore, the star wide receiver made his only career Pro Bowl roster.
Meanwhile, Samuel has had a solid 2023 season. The former South Carolina star is the WR28, averaging 10.3 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. He has totaled 38 touches for 397 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns this year.

Is Deebo Samuel Playing In Week 7?
Samuel has struggled with injuries in his career. Unfortunately, he suffered a shoulder injury against the Cleveland Browns in Week 6. The injury knocked him out of the game. Furthermore, it will force the star wide receiver to miss the Week 7 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced on Saturday that Samuel has a hairline fracture in his shoulder and will miss the next two games against the Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals. The team is hopeful that the star wide receiver can return after the team’s bye week and face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 10.
Should I Start Jauan Jennings?
While the veteran won’t play in the next two games, Jennings isn’t an ideal replacement option for fantasy players. The Tennessee receiver has only seven receptions on 12 targets for 127 receiving yards and 16.2 fantasy points this season.
Instead, fantasy players should add Michael Wilson off the waiver wire. The rookie wide receiver is available in over 88% of ESPN leagues. More importantly, the former Stanford receiver has 18 receptions on 22 targets for 317 receiving yards and two touchdowns this year. He is second on the team in receiving yards and touchdowns.
Wilson faces the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7. Seattle has surrendered 38 fantasy points per game to wide receivers, the second-most in the NFL. Furthermore, wide receivers have averaged 190.5 receiving yards and 1.8 touchdowns per game against Seattle since Week 1.
