Tyson Bagent In Line For First Career Start Against Raiders
1 year agoChicago Bears backup quarterback Tyson Bagent is expected to start on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, as starter Justin Fields (thumb) was ruled out with a thumb injury. In relief just a week ago, in their 19-13 loss to the Vikings, Bagent completed 10-of-14 passes for 83 yards and had an interception. He also gained four yards on the ground, scoring a touchdown, and lost a fumble. The undrafted rookie is expected to start over Nathan Peterman and face the Raiders, who currently rank 20th in points allowed to quarterbacks this season. Gameplans with backup quarterbacks often tend to be conservative and run-heavy, featuring short and intermediate passes to open up the run game. This scenario may not be ideal for fantasy football managers, and it is advisable to roster Bagent only in deeper or superflex leagues and under extreme circumstances.
