1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez has been named the starter for Game 4 of the National League Championship Series in Arizona on Friday against the Diamondbacks, according to manager Rob Thomson. It will be Sanchez's first career postseason appearance in a big game as the Phillies look to take a commanding three games to one lead in the best-of-seven series. The 26-year-old Dominican southpaw went 3-5 in the regular season in his third year in the big leagues with a career-low 3.44 ERA (3.99 FIP), 1.05 WHIP, 16 walks and a career-high 96 strikeouts in 99 1/3 innings over 19 outings (18 starts). Sanchez didn't face the Diamondbacks at all during the 2023 regular season.
