New York Jets running back Dalvin Cook was an exciting addition to the team just about a month before the start of the 2023 season. However, he has not had a great start for Gang Green after a prolific career with the Minnesota Vikings.
The 28-year-old rushed for at least 1,000 yards in each season from 2019 to 2022 and made the Pro Bowl all four times. However, running backs often don't age gracefully, and he is now a cut candidate heading into Week 7.
Should you drop Cook in fantasy football after Week 6? Let's dive in.

Dalvin Cook Season Review
In six games for the Jets, Cook has rushed 39 times for 109 yards and caught nine passes for 46 yards. He has not found the end zone. Although the Jets' offensive line has struggled and Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) being out has tanked the offense, that has not stopped Breece Hall from being productive.
Coming off a torn ACL, Hall has rushed 66 times for 426 yards and two scores. He is averaging a whopping 6.5 yards per carry -- almost four yards per carry more than Cook.
Simply put, Cook looks washed, and he's likely about to be phased out of the offense altogether after the team's Week 7 bye.
Can I Drop Dalvin Cook in Fantasy Football?
After six weeks of action, it seems very unlikely that Cook will be a fantasy-viable running back this season. Even if Hall misses any games this season, Cook likely wouldn't produce much as a part of a mediocre offense led by Zach Wilson.
The former perennial 1,000-yard rusher is past the running back age apex and dealt with a ton of injuries during his time in Minnesota, so it's not all that surprising that he has been a bust to this point.
Target handcuff running backs with real upside, and kick Cook to the curb -- especially while he's on a bye.
