1 year agoNew York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield is considered day-to-day with a leg injury. His left ankle has swollen up after he used it to block a shot in the team's season opener against Buffalo on Saturday. Mayfield could now be forced to sit on Tuesday when the Islanders host Arizona. "He's got some swelling, and there's maintenance there," Islanders head coach Lane Lambert said Monday. "We'll see how he is tomorrow." Mayfield finished without a point against the Sabres but made his presence felt on the ice with four blocks and two hits in 16:47 of ice time. Samuel Bolduc replaced Mayfield on the third defensive pairing in Monday's practice and appears poised to jump into the lineup if Mayfield doesn't feel better on Tuesday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
